
Mike Kowalchick

Mike Kowalchick has devoted his entire life to education, leadership, and community building. Raised by English Teachers and Independent School Leaders on the campus of The Hill School in Pottstown, PA, Mike’s passion for education was shaped early in life. As a faculty child and student surrounded by teachers, classmates, and community-a love of learning was instilled-whether having pedagogical conversations around the dinner table or playing shinny hockey with his brother, Matt and second and third formers living in, Markle House, his family’s dorm. Education and Learning through relationships and connections became a calling and a lifestyle.
This immersive upbringing led Mike to begin working in schools while earning his undergraduate degree at Ohio Wesleyan University. His commitment to educational leadership deepened at Gonzaga University, where he earned a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. There, he honed his belief in the power of community, pedagogy, and the transformational nature of authentic educational experiences.
With over 25 years of experience across all levels of education, Mike has worn many hats: teacher, coach, dorm parent, and administrator—including Interim Head of School. His career spans Junior Boarding Schools, Secondary Schools, and the University level, where he has led in a range of areas including:

Mike lives with his wife and two children in Litchfield, Connecticut, and enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, dogs, and horses.
